Rensburg & Co is an architecture office working on commercial, multi-residential, education, and adaptive reuse projects in regional Queensland. We offer masterplanning, design, and on-site support through an attentive process – asking the right questions, doing the research, and never cutting corners. We’re driven by results, prioritising client and community needs over aesthetics. Our designs are influenced by the local land, flora, and fauna, and we always strive to do better for Country. When appropriate, we engage with First Nations groups and continually learn from the traditional custodians of the land we work on.
We’re led by director Liehan Janse van Rensburg, a registered architect who grew up in Toowoomba and is now based here. He has over 10 years of experience leading commercial, multi-residential, educational and heritage projects – locally, interstate, and internationally. Liehan has served as National Councillor for the Australian Institute of Architects and National President of the Emerging Architects & Graduates Network (EmAGN).
We work in a pragmatic, organised way that keeps things moving smoothly. You’ll always know where things stand and be given the opportunity to be involved.
We begin with a conversation about your challenges and what you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll walk the site of your project, get to know each other, and make sure we’re aligned before anything else happens. By the end, we’ve agreed on a clear direction.
This is where we dig in. We’ll come back to you with ideas, some expected and some that will pleasantly surprise you, but always with your needs centred. It’ll go through the wash a couple of times, with your feedback shaping it along the way.
Next, we test the design and work through the details. We bring in other experts like builders, engineers, and planners to make sure everything stacks up and stays on budget. By the end, you know exactly what you’re getting, down to the door handles.
Once construction starts, we stay close. We hold regular site meetings, keep an eye on how things are tracking, and sort out any issues that come up along the way. We act in your best interest throughout, so you’re not left navigating things on your own.
Our relationship doesn’t wrap up when construction does. We check back in to see how the building is working in practice and whether anything needs attention. You’ll know how to contact us and we’re always happy to hear from you.
Whether you have a clear brief or just a rough idea, it’s worth getting in touch early. We’ll help you figure out what you need and how we might fit into the picture.
